Computer Memory is storage unit where we can store the data and information and also instructions of the computer system.

A computer has two types of Memory:

1. Primary Memory

2. Secondary Memory  

 

PRIMARY MEMORY (Internal Memory)

Primary memory is located in the CPU. Working of the computer depend on Primary Memory. It is essential to start the computer.

Primary Memory has two types:

1. Random Access Memory (RAM)

2. Read Only Memory (ROM) 

  

SECONDARY MEMORY (External Memory)

 Secondary Memory where we can store files and programs.These programs and files do not erased even if the power is switched off.Data are loaded from secondary memory to primary memory when required.

The different Types of secondary storage devices are:

• Floppy Disc
• Hard Disc
• Compact Disc (CD)
• Digital Versatile Disc (DVD)
